Release Note for WDM SMB Device Driver for I82801

1. Installation:

1.1 Windows 2000
To install the driver:
- Start Device Manager,
- Find "Intel(R) ... SMBus Controller ..." in "System devices" category
  NOTE: if Intel-INF utility was not installed, the device name may be 
        "SM Bus Controller", or "PCI device".
- In Properties window for the device choose "Update driver",
- Select Display a list of and click Next,
- Select Have disk, then locate the I82801Smb driver folder,                                      
- Select I82801 SM bus driver and click Next,
- Proceed with the installation.


1.2 Windows XP Professional / Windows Server 2003
To install the driver:
- Start Device Manager,
- Find "Intel(R) ... SMBus Controller ..." in "System devices" category
  NOTE: if Intel-INF utility was not installed, the device name may be 
        "SM Bus Controller",
- Select "Update driver..." for this device,
- Select "Install from a list or specific location",
- Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install",
- Click on "Have Disk..." button and locate the I82801Smb driver folder
  (if there is no "Have disk..." button, select "Show all devices" from
   the list, and then "Have disk..."),
- Proceed with the installation.

2. Known bugs of i82801smb.sys V 1.0.0.1

- Description:
  If connecting more than 2 devices to the SM Bus device driver,
  Windows 2000 could stop in a blue screen after a short time.

  Workaround:
  In this case do not use any alert functionality of an SMB device.
  Take care to avoid any alert interrupts of any SMB device.

  If running with LM81 and MAX1617 on board of a Kontron CPCI board do
  not use Max1617RegisterAlert() function for temperature control.
  Instead poll actual temperature and compare it with limits on
  application level.
